Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Procurement and Financial Services, the Ecommerce and Logistics Officer is responsible for the efficient operations of NIC’s retail ecommerce system as well as, freight and courier requirements. The Ecommerce and Logistics Officer, provides a range of services to a diverse internal and external client base, ensuring adherence to all procedural requirements and maintaining an operational ecommerce platform.

The Ecommerce and Logistics Officer will create and implement strategies to streamline ecommerce activities. They will be responsible for the e-commerce experience in forecasting sales and resolving conflicts. The Ecommerce and Logistics Officer will be responding to queries from staff and students to ensure the ecommerce activities are able to best support student success. They also monitor website content to ensure that it is easy to navigate and visually appealing in conjunction with NIC’s Marketing and Future Students team.

The Ecommerce and Logistics Officer is also responsible for ensuring effective maintenance of all centre equipment including electronic and manual goods lifting, storage, coordinating and facilitating the safe transportation and movement of all mail, deliveries and overall inventory in and out of the centre.

Duties & Responsibilities
1. Write and edit product content that will be published on e-Commerce websites/portals.
2. Set standards, systems, and best practices for new product listings, content creation, distribution, and maintenance.
3. Work closely with different teams (Buyers – Retail, Marketing and Future Students, as well as faculty and department chairs) to provide updated content that will be shared across e-Commerce platforms.
4. Be a subject matter expert to assigned product categories.
5. Identify SEO best practices regarding inventory, pre-orders, and pricing policies.
6. Monitor changes in product sales by using web analytics and Excel spreadsheets (pivot tables, vlookups, etc) to stay organized.
7. Responsible for all logistical movement of items entering or leaving North Island College. This includes reviewing items for damages and recording and distributing this information as needed.
8. Required to reconcile billing for courier and postal needs and working with accounts payable to ensure accurate record keeping and payment.
9. Maintains cost effective use of all freight, ensuring courier and other services are used efficiently and related to inventory.
10. Designated to orientate and train in various areas of responsibility and tasks when required.
11. The position incorporates any other duties as required by the manager.
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or other relevant field.
  • 3 to 5 years experience e-Commerce business including managing and maintaining e-Commerce websites/portals.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
1. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, good standard of oral and written communication, time management and problem-solving skills.
2. Capacity to perform physically demanding work in a safe manner ability to lift up to 20kg; WHIMS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods certifications required.
3. Advanced level computer skills in Microsoft and Excel
4. Ability to work independently, respond to issues positively and manage a range of priority tasks.
5. Knowledgeable of the e-Commerce space that includes marketing strategies, various leading e-Commerce website builders (e.g. Shopify, Elementor), product development, competitive strategies, consumer research, industry trends and usability best practices.
6. Knowledge of various platforms and online sales strategies and can be used to conduct digital sales or website conversions.
7. Familiarity with web design and attention to detail.
8. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
